Introduction
Concepts, crisis versus non-crisis wars, European timelines
History is Speeding Up
Economic indicators, Eurozone deterioration, Arab uprisings, Libya, Clash of Civilizations, methodology.
The Post WW II world - 1945 to 2000
America's Recovery, Awakening and Unraveling eras. Countries today not in crisis eras (e.g., Iran, Iraq, Thailand, Syria, Lebanon, Vietnam, Venezuela)
World in Crisis - 2000-Present
Worldwide increase in xenophobia. Rise of China's military. Mideast, India/Pakistan, Caucasus, Korea in crisis.
Bubbles and Global Financial Crisis - 1995-Present
Economists cannot explain the tech bubble of the 1990s, nor the real estate and credit bubbles of the 2000s. They didn't foresee the financial crisis, they didn't predict where we are now, and they have no idea where we'll be next year. Generational Dynamics provides lots of answers. The world financial crisis is very far from over.
Trends and Controversies
Things that people send me angry comments about. The Malthus Effect. Role of religion. Violence in Islam. The Singularity.

Generational Dynamics

View from the international space station

Earth

It's a basic principle of Generational Dynamics that even in a dictatorship, major policies are determined by masses of people, entire generations of people, following predictable behavior patterns, and not by politicians. Politicians' attitudes and behaviors are irrelevant, except as they reflect the views of the people.

Western and Eastern European Timelines

Crisis versus Non-Crisis wars

  Non-crisis wars are 'rational'
-   Launched by politicians, people follow
-   Usually have clear, 'logical' objectives
-   Try to follow the 'rules of war'
-   Often intermittent, no clear conclusion
-   Example: Korean, Vietnam, Iraq wars

  Crisis wars are 'irrational'
-   Launched by the people, politicians follow
-   Caused by xenophobia and generational panic
-   Genocidal, often wars of extermination
-   Gather momentum until the explosive climax
-   Clear resolution
-   Example: Revolutionary War, Civil War, WW II
-   Crisis civil wars are the worst

  Aftermath
-   Non-crisis: Problems remain unresolved
-   Crisis: Survivors vow to spend their lives making
-   ... sure that nothing like that ever happens again
