Historical Consumer Price Index Change

In November 2023, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS)announced that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) had changed by 3.24% in the preceding year.

This means that, according to the BLS, consumer prices during the preceding 12 months increased by 3.24%.

Each month, the BLS announces that figure for the preceding 12 months, but it's very difficult to find a table of historical values for this on a monthly basis. That is, there are tables of CPI values on a monthly basis for each month, but I was unable to find a table of monthly values, where each value is the CPI percentage increase for the preceding 12 months.

So I took a table of published CPI values, and wrote some software that reads the table and prints out a table, on a monthly basis, of the CPI change in the preceding 12 months.

I found this table very interesting, and others may as well. You can copy and paste this table into a text file, or you can paste it into Excel.
